St Margaret’s students celebrate outstanding A-level and BTEC results.
Year 13 students from St Margaret’s Church of England Sixth Form, Aigburth, collected their A-level and BTEC results this morning (Thursday, 15 August).
The co-educational sixth form, part of St Margaret’s Church of England Academy, has seen a significant increase in grades this year, with 48 per cent of A-level grades coming in at A* to B and 97 per cent of BTEC grades being distinction* to merit grades.
St Margaret’s Church of England Sixth Form, which is a member of All Saints Multi Academy Trust, also saw excellent results in STEM subjects, with nearly half of its mathematicians achieving either an A* or an A grade, and over 80 per cent of engineers attaining a grade of distinction or distinction*.
Outside of STEM, there were successes in many other areas, such as art and photography, where almost 90 per cent of students got A* to B grades.
Many students have secured places at prestigious universities, as well as competitive apprenticeships in a range of leading organisations.
Student Karl is heading to the University of Warwick to study mathematics after attaining two A* grades and two As in maths, further maths, physics and computer science.
Joe is also heading to the University of Warwick to study history after gaining A, A, B in history, politics and business studies.
Joe is delighted with his grades and said: “I can’t wait for the challenge of university.”
Ayesha is looking forward to a career in medicine after achieving A*, A, A grades in psychology, biology and chemistry.
Best friends Tareq and Areeb both achieved straight A grades and will be heading to the University of Liverpool to study biomedical sciences.
Faye, with A-levels in biology, geography and psychology, is excited to begin the next chapter of her education as she fulfils her ambition to become a paramedic. She will be studying for a degree in paramedic science at Sheffield Hallam University.
Meanwhile, fellow student Jesse obtained A-levels in history, religious studies and art, and is off to study Egyptology at the University of Liverpool.
Jesse commented: “Egyptology has been a love of mine since a young age, and I’m really looking forward to being able to start the practical work, like going on digs. Moreover, the opportunity to study in China for a year was a main reason for choosing the University of Liverpool.”

It is incredibly rewarding to see so many students achieve their academic goals and set themselves up for future success. We are immensely proud of their accomplishments and wish them well as they embark on their next adventures.”
